InfoComm Mexico 2019 starts off with new opportunities and challenges for the AV integration industry

Exhibitors and organizers share their ideas about the challenges, opportunities and technology trends for Mexico’s AV industry

InfoComm Mexico’s ninth edition is now on, as the event begins, it receives thousands of professionals, distributors, integrators and users that are part of the Mexican AV integration industry. This year’s edition showcases over 100 companies, dozens of educational conferences and training courses that include programs by DataNet Mexico and TecnoTelevision. The event takes place from August 14th to 16th at the WTC Mexico City.

During the first day, organizers and exhibitors agreed that the local industry faces new business opportunities and challenges that are to be overcome to sustain the growth rate as new technologies arrive for corporate, retail, live events, education and entertainment.

Rodrigo Cassaus, Senior Director for Development in LatinAmerica and the Caribe of AVIXA – association that co-organizes the event – pointed out that both AV integration companies and professional technicians must face the challenge and invest in training, specialization, compliance of standards and technical certifications so they can be more competitive through their service quality and experience. Also, they must aim to educate the final user to value the credentials that a company may have, so the choice between one provider and another is not merely based on price.

Regarding opportunities, AVIXA’s expert considers that high-profile professional services have a promising future, as the largest budget projects are given to companies that offer quality and performance by combining design, creativity, execution, technical support and management. Another opportunity lies on operated services (infrastructure, computer equipment, printing, tools, among others), as clients rather have a service available than investing in assets.

As for trends, some exhibitors like Creston, Epson and Samsung displayed technologies that will create new business areas in the short and medium term.

“We’re on a key moment for the industry, with important tech changes that go hand in hand with the way that people are working, as teams aren’t necessarily in the same office building anymore. That’s the reason there are great expectations for better video collaboration solutions, because there is an estimate of 50 million meeting rooms in the world and only about 3% of them have the proper video conference technology. This opens a wide range of business possibilities for us in this fascinating part of the industry”, says Federico Bausone, Director of Creston for Latin America

This technology is also being adopted at a faster pace, because there are more software companies aiming towards collaboration, so there’s a growth in huddle rooms and video conference rooms.

Epson is looking to create immersive experiences through their multi-purpose projection technology, so they can get an extra value that separates them from their competitors and gives the users a unique experience when they choose their products or services.

“We’re talking about solutions aimed for specific markets, with capacity for medium and large interactive surfaces; signage on different surfaces, even on floors and roofs; engaging designs that are part of the architecture or moving displays through the integration with multiple partner manufacturers” says Leopoldo Parra, Regional Business Manager for Epson.

“As a company, we consider this is a time of transformation regarding digital signage. As we have a 78% market share for digital signage in Mexico, we plan a large investment in events like InfoComm to put our catalog on the focal point for all of Latin America, with a strategy that seeks to create new markets through different applications, so growth is sustained” states Righel Guizar, B2B Director of Samsung Mexico.

Finally, Max Jaramillo, Show Director of InfoComm Latin America, pointed out the importance that each InfoComm edition – Mexico, Brazil and Colombia – have gained, highlighting the interest that industry professionals have for this sort of events to create commercial partnerships, alliances and discovering new business options.

InfoComm Mexico 2019 is the integrated multimedia technology exhibition and conference that gathers the main hardware and software manufacturers and service providers with AV integrators, consultors and final users. The event is held by AVI Magazine Latin America, from the specialized editorial house Latin Press and the international association AVIXA (Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association), producer of InfoComm shows around the world and is co-owner of ISE in Europe.
